Samiksha Thakur is an award-winning Indian-American filmmaker based in New Jersey. As a writer and director, she avoids the wax poetic, underlining authentic character-driven narratives through her work, instead. Her shorts have screened at Academy-Award qualifying festivals including Seattle International Film Festival and Indy Shorts (by Heartland Film).
In 2022, Samiksha became a YoungArts Award Winner in Film. Her work has amassed sundry honors including "Best Picture," "Best Ensemble Cast," and others, along the festival circuit. She was a recipient of the WarnerMedia, AT&T, and Ghetto Film School production grant in 2020 for a video project titled "Time Is of the Essence." In addition to directing and writing, Samiksha stitches stories together as an editor. She shares her love of crafting videos via her freelance work for Youtubers and Podcasters. Samiksha has also produced an advertisement for Bliss Makeup and The Trevor Project.
Accenting the intimacies of human connection through transient life moments, Samiksha weaves subtle threads of her experiences into the stories she tells. She strives to capture the not-so-favorable beats in life as well as their sanguine counterparts to explore the human condition.
